Police lathicharge injures four in Saptari

RAJBIRAJ: Four agitators were injured as security personnel charged them with batons during a demonstration in Rupani Bazaar of Saptari on Thursday night. The agitators were demonstrating along the East-West Highway, which was announced riot-hit and restricted for any demonstration announced by the District Administration Office, informed the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF). The security personnel had charged them with batons and tear gas shells at around 10 pm yesterday at Rupani Bazar in Saptari. The injured are identified as Mahesh Yadav of Barhibirpur, Laxmi Yadav and Hira Lal Yadav of Raipur, and an unidentified elderly, informed the UMDF Saptari Information and Communication Department Amar Nath Mandal. The protesters also accused security personnel of vandalising the motorcycle of Sadbhawana Party leader Dinesh Yadav, Mandal informed in a press statement. The injured are undergoing treatment at the Unique Hospital in Raipur. Police had moved aside the rocks and trees placed by the demonstrators to resume the vehicular movement.
