Discharge duty properly
This refers to the article: “Paradoxes in politics,” written by Dr Ganga Thapa published on February 3. He has criticised all the present political actors in this piece. He has not even spared the foreign powers like the US and the UK governments. According to him, all the parties should realise and carry their roles honestly. People at this moment have been divided as either pro-royalists or as pro-Maoists. No one believe in political leaders because of their past involvement in favouritism, corruption and due to inefficiencies shown during the last 13 years.
The public should not be made to suffer for long in this way. Killing each other is not a solution to any problem. If the King and the Maoists manage to reach at a compromise
forgetting their self-righteous rhetoric, it will be the best solution. Otherwise, the option as suggested by Dr Thapa will be to go for a vote and see what our people want. It means both warring sides should not hesitate to go for a referendum and hear people’s verdict which should be obeyed honestly by both the sides and it will be a final solution to the current conflict.

Keep it up!
The Himalayan Times is the cheapest newspaper in Nepal. In this age of expensive goods, to read a quality newspaper in just Re 1 is astonishing. Also, even as the price war has raked up a unwanted controversy, the readers are the eventual winners. We hope that THT will continue to render its quality service and will improve in the future, while maintaining its number one position.

Suggestion
Though your newspaper reaches this side of the country only by three in the afternoon, I am a regular reader of The Himalayan Times. Also, we are very lucky to read an English daily for such a small price. However, as a well-wisher I would like to point out some shortcomings of your newspaper. In this age of modernisation, science and technology have advanced to a greater extent. Don’t you feel that you should give some space in your newspaper for these subjects? It would be good if some articles on the above mentioned fields could be put in THT with pictures and achievements of famous scientists. Though I have noticed a few letters in this regard, no action has been taken so far. I request you to give this a thought. Such a column would certainly help science students and encourage them further.

Live healthy
The average Nepali is not quite a health conscious individual. People are suffering from
physical as well as mental problems. Their careless attitude towards their lives have made them physically and mentally feeble. I have come across many individuals who have a negative attitude about life and are weary of living. In this condition, it is important to live healthy lives and for this most important is to change our lifestyles. In this regard, I am grateful towards Dr Yogi Bikashananda, Dr Chetanath Adhikari and Dr Karna Bahadur Shrestha who have taught me how to be jubilant and to live a meaningful life. To be happy and healthy we must concentrate on having a proper and a balanced diet. It is preferable to avoid having too much rice, sugar, oil and salt in our daily meals as these are harmful for our system. It is good to include green salads in our food and we must drink at least three litres of water daily. Yoga and meditation are essential to keep the mind fresh which help us stay away from all sorts of tensions.
