CA members start signing Nepal's new constitution

KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly (CA) members on Friday are signing on Nepal's Constitution 2072, which the historic body endorsed two-thirds majority a couple of days ago. An arrangement has been made for the CA members to sign on the dossier at Lhotse Hall of the CA building from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm today in the presence of CA Chairman Subas Nembang. Lawmakers Jiban Bahadur Shahi, Gangalal Tuladhar, Rameshwor Phuyal and Jitu Gautam were among the lawmakers who signed the new constitution in the first lot. The lawmakers would sign in five copies of the new constitution printed in the traditional Nepali paper made up of lokta. After the lawmakers finish signing on the copies new constitution, the CA Chairman is scheduled to certify the constitution. Earlier, some consequential and typographical corrections were made on the new constitution. A five committee headed by Chairman of the CA's Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee Dr Baburam Bhattarai was constituted for the job. President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to make an announcement of the commencement of Nepal's Constitution 2072 amid a special ceremony, scheduled for 5 pm on Sunday, at the CA. After the promulgation of new constitution, the CA, which was elected to double as the Legislature-Parliament, will automatically dissolve while the Legislature-Parliament will exist.
