Two injured in Biratnagar clash

BHOJPUR: Two persons were injured in a police firing during a clash erupted between cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front and police at Mahabir Chok of Biratnagar, in Morang district, on Monday. The injured, Bishal Keshari (22) of Sarochiya of Biratnangar-7 and Pinky Keshari (30) of the same place are receiving treatment at Golden Hospital and Birat Nursing Home respectively. Though police said only two were hurt, the UDMF has claimed that five persons were injured in police firing. At first, police had lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the agitators. But, when the situation was out of control they were forced to open fire in the air, informed DSP Pramod Kharel, spokesperson of Morang District Police Office. Police said that the joint team of Nepal Police Force and Armed Police Force had fired more than 12 bullets while lobbed six tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.
