Dr Govinda KC's health deteriorates

KATHMANDU: The heath condition of Prof Dr Govinda KC, who is staging a hunger strike since September 19, is deteriorating. Senior orthopaedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Dr KC has staged a fast-unto-death saying the 11-point agreement signed between him and the government was not implemented. Prof Dr Divya Singh Shah, who is involved in Dr KC's treatment, said that Dr KC has been suffering from high blood pressure and urine infection. Dr KC has already staged the hunger strike for 64 days at different times in last three years calling for reforms in the medical education, it is learnt. Last time, Dr KC had staged the hunger strike for 14 days demanding implementation of the report of a panel led by educationist Kedar Bhakta Mathema. Dr KC's aide Dr Jiwan Kshetry said that the government has not heeded to the demands raised by KC.
