KATHMANDU: The ground floor of Nepal Art Council, Babermahal is filled with photographs of people, landscape and cultural activities/places. These photographs have displayed as a part of the photo exhibition ‘Nepal is Beautiful’. The exhibition that began on September 25 features works of 24 different photographers and showcases the beauty of Nepal. The majestic Himalayas, hills, streams, rivers, pond and more are on the right hand side of the gallery as you enter the building. Photographer Samir Pradhananga has captured the serene beauty of a pond at Kulekhani where two boats lie deserted. You cannot help but notice the natural beauty seen in the photograph, and wish that you could be there to see it yourself. On the left hand side of the gallery, you will encounter man-made heritage sites like temples, celebration of various festivals, historic monuments along with portraits of women and children. Bishoka Mulmi has captured the Pashupatinath Temple area at dusk where the blue sky with white clouds has a hint of orange — this photograph is no less than a painting. Meanwhile, in Uma Bista’s photograph, two little girls in Haku Patasi and plastic sheet over their heads are running across the fields trying to escape the heavy rain. The smile on the girls’ faces has the power to a bring smile on your face too. The photographs leave you with a memorable impression of Nepal’s rich natural and cultural beauty. The proceeds from the exhibition will be spent to support earthquake survivors of Chatre Deaurali-1, Dhading where the group will build safe drinking water system, community toilet and other hygiene related requirements. The exhibition is on till September 29.
