Surkhet, July 1:
The quota of supply of foods to the remote districts of mid-western region by air is nearly complete, informed Surkhet-based Nepal Food Corporation (NFC). Due to lack of transportation over land, food is being supplied in these areas by air for some years. 96 per cent of the foods’ quota has already been supplied before the conclusion of the current fiscal year (FY), NFC informed. According to the NFC office, in this fiscal 42,874 quintals of food was earmarked for Kalikot, Humla, Mugu and Dolpa districts of Karnali zone and for Bajura, Bajhang, Jajarkot and Rukum in far- western area. But, 10,020, 6,863, 500, 380 and 6,774 quintals of food has been supplied to Jumla, Humla, Mugu and Dolpa districts instead of 17,000, 7,100, 6,100 and 7,000 quintals of foods respectively, NFC informed. Similarly, less than the planned amount of food has been supplied to Bajura, Bajhang, Jajarkot and Rukum districts according to demand, acting chief Khadk Gyawali informed. According to him, the quantity of the quota has already been supplied but the peoples are demanding more quotas. The quotas will be provided according to the situation in the districts.
