KATHMANDU: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur said talks with the protesting parties has been overlooked as three major political parties are busy in running for power in the new government. The agitators, hence, continue their protests, the chief of one of the constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) said at an interaction in Bhaktapur on Monday. The leader, however, informed that the negotiators of three major parties – Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist – had said they were positive regarding fulfilling demands of the UDMF, at a recent meeting with him. Meanwhile, Thakur claimed that the ongoing obstructions at Indo-Nepal border points were carried out by UDMF cadres in support of Madhesi people and India was not involved in it. He warned that the protests would go worse if the government failed to heed their demands at the earliest. Thakur, meanwhile, accused the government of using violence to suppress the Tarai protests.
