Dahal proposes Oli as PM candidate, Kamal Thapa seconds

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli filed his nomination for the election of  prime minister at Parliament. In the nomination, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed Oli as a prime ministerial candidate while  Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Kamal Thapa  seconded the proposal. Nepali Congress has also decided to field incumbent Prime Minister and party President Sushil Koirala in the election. The election is scheduled for 11 am tomorrow. Leaders of 12 parties, including UCPN-Maoist, RPP-Nepal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, CPN-ML and Rastriya Janamorcha, and an independent lawmaker have lent support to Oli, indicating an easy majority in his  favour. CPN-UML has 183 members, UCPN-Maoist 83 (after Baburam Bhattarai resigned), RPP-Nepal 25, RPP 12, CPN-ML 5 and Rastriya Janamorcha 3.
