Ghale to steer NRNA for two more years

Kathmandu, October 15 Shesh Ghale has been elected as the president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA)’s International Coordination Council for the second consecutive term. The Australia-based millionaire, bagged 867 votes to defeat his opponent Tek Bahadur Karki, who garnered 226 votes. Ghale will remain in office for two years. After being elected as NRNA President, Ghale said the association will give continuity to the projects it had initiated earlier. “NRNA will focus on reconstruction and rebuilding for next two years.” The election of the umbrella body of NRNs held today also elected Bhaban Bhatta and Kumar Panta to the post of vice presidents, while Badri KC has been elected to the post of general secretary. Similarly, Arjun Kumar Shrestha has been elected to the post of secretary and Hikmat Bahadur Thapa has been elected as the treasurer. Coordinators and deputy coordinators for Asia Pacific, Americas, Europe, Africa and Middle East regions were also elected today. Also, women and youth coordinators and deputy coordinators were elected. The NRN movement was initiated in 2003 and has established networks in 71 different countries across the globe. Around 100,000 Nepalis are associated with NRNA.
