Nepal team off to China to finalise fuel import procedures

KATHMANDU: High official representatives of the government left for China today to hold dialogues concerning the import of petroleum in the country. Nepal has been gasping for the petroleum after India restricted fuel supply to Nepal. Only few tankers of fuel have been sent to Nepal from India when Nepal needs about 250 tankers of fuel on a daily basis. The team of high officials is on the visit to China to discuss the alternatives and solutions of present fuel crisis with Chinese representatives, said Spokesperson of Nepal Oil Corporation, Deepak Baral to Rastriya Samachar Samiti. The team would discuss means and mode of fuel import including prices with the Chinese side. The team had decided to hold dialogues with China after it announced that it would grant about 1.3 million litre of petroleum to Nepal. The team includes Shambhu Ghimire, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Supplies; Madhav Kumar Marasini, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Finance; Jhabindra Aryal, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mahesh Kumar Maskey, Nepal's Ambassador to China; Gopal Bahadur Khada, Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation; Sushil Bhattarai, Director of NOC; and Bishwa Babu Pudasaini, Director General of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology.
