GAIGHAT: Livestock Service Centre of Udayapur, Baraha VDC is manned by a peon, thanks to the apathy shown by the concerned authorities to depute required manpower. The centre was established by renting a private house about a decade ago. “There were technicians in the office only for a brief period but it’s been nearly seven years and not a single employee has come here,” said Gurumani Kumai, a local. According to Kumai, frequent requests to the concerned authorities had fallen on deaf ears. “The centre is of no use unless there is a technician available,” said local farmer Dormani Karki, adding, “We don’t have any option but to call technicians from private facilities or elsewhere by spending huge amounts of money whenever we need services.”
