Prez calls parties to end current crisis

Kathmandu, November 5 Expressing serious concern about the current crisis facing the country, President Bidya Devi Bhandari today said the government should take immediate steps to resolve the crisis. Receiving a delegation of Federation of Nepali Journalists led by its president Mahendra Bista at her office this morning, the President said there was an immediate need to ensure that all Nepali families have fuel to cook food and travel from one place to another. Bhandari said the government should hold talks with the agitating parties to resolve the current crisis. According to Bhandari, she had drawn the attention of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli towards the issue on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bhandari said she would try her best to strengthen national unity and foster harmony among people living in various regions of the country. The Federation of Nepali Journalists delegation had reached Sheetal Niwas to congratulate Bhandari for her election to the post of President. The delegation included Bista, former Federation of Nepali Journalists presidents Suresh Acharya, Bishnu Nisthuri and Dharmendra Jha, advisor Poshan KC and vice-presidents Anita Bindu and Khil Bahadur Bhandari, among others. Similarly, women journalists led by Working Women Journalists today congratulated President Bhandari. During their meeting with the President, Subekshya Bindu Tuladhar, president, WWJ, drew the attention of president towards the overall problems faced by women journalists. Nirmala Acharya, first female general manager of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, urged the President to appoint a woman journalist as her press coordinator.
