Himalayan Mountain Bike Company is planning to resume the Himalayan Mountain Bike (HMB) Championship in November this year. Started in 1999, the championship was held for four years, and has not been held since 2002. “Taking consideration of biking craze of the Himalayan Kingdom, we are once again determined to organise this event in a grand manner,” said Ananda Silwal, manager of Himalayan Mountain Bike Company, at a press meet today. Silwal also said that the dates would be confirmed after the sponsors were confirmed. “I am going to Japan and UK to consult with the sponsors and technical experts as well as the bikers regarding the race,” said Silwal. Siemens had sponsored the earlier editions

of the championship. Silwal also informed that an expert team of Siemens was coming to Kathmandu in September to finalise the routes and dates. The proposed route for the race is Sundarijal-Jarsing Pauwa-Sankhu covering 29 kilometres or Sankhu-Nagarkot-Bhaktapur.

“We will organise a race in November, whether the sponsors approve it or not,” he said. “We will organise the race in a grand fashion if the organisers approve our proposal, otherwise we will make it a simple one,” he said. Defending champion and Nepal’s No 1 cyclist Suresh Kumar Dulal was also present on the occasion.
