Security stepped up in view of Tihar, Chhat festivals

Chitwan, November 8 District Police Office, Chitwan has stepped up security to prevent possible incidents of thefts, robbery and road accidents during the Tihar festival. DSP Rajan Adhikari of District Police Office, Chitwan said that police have stepped up vigilance in 17 different places, which include border points and national highway. Vehicles plying the national highway would be checked thoroughly and action would be taken against drink driving and drivers without license and other necessary documents. He said the new security arrangement has been put in place since October 27. Similarly, SP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar of DPO said police would not even spare government officials, media persons, entrepreneurs, bankers if they found violating traffic rule. He said the police had taken action against as many as 55 persons for drink driving from October 28 to November 7. DSP Adhikari said they had collected a revenue of Rs 127,400. He further said that DPO has deployed additional policemen. He claimed that incidents of thefts, robbery and road accidents have been reduced after the security arrangements were put in place.
