Kathmandu, November 10 Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the Armed Police Force was dedicated to maintaining peace and security in compliance with human rights and existing laws of the nation. Addressing a special function organised to mark the 15th APF Day in the capital on Monday, Oli said, “APF has succeeded in establishing itself as an effective security agency in a short period of time. We noticed its commendable and exemplary performance in search and rescue operations in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks. APF has played a vital role in giving people a sense of peace and security. I would like to highly appreciate its efforts.” He also said the government was ready to extend necessary support to strengthen the paramilitary force. On the occasion, Oli conferred the Excellent Battalion Running Award on SP Shyam Kaji Kunwar, battalion commander of APF Guheshwori Battaion, Dwakot in Bhaktapur on behalf of APF. Similarly, SP Bidur Khadka, Chief of APF Border Security Office, Rautahat, won the Excellent Border Office Running Award. Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet said APF was carrying out its functions, duties and responsibilities as per the national interest and democratic norms to make the society a better and safer place to live in. APF Inspector General Koshraj Onta said the paramilitary agency was able to reach ‘this height of success thanks to the fulfillment of responsibilities assigned to it under the existing laws’.
