Pyuthan, November 20 Cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist today seized a land owned by a local in Pyuthan Municipality. The party cadres seized Rastriya Prajatantra Party District Vice-chairman Buddha Bahadur GC’s 17 aana land and hoisted the party flag on it. CPN Maoist Pyuthan Secretary Ratna Bahadur Thapa said his party had seized the land as GC had sold off the land, which actually belonged to Sumitra GC, by forging documents. “We captured the land after the victim, Sumitra, lodged a complaint with the party, saying Buddha Bahadur sold off her land by forging documents,” Thapa said. Secretary Thapa said his party was preparing to hand over the land to its rightful owner. He warned of retaliation if anyone violated Sumitra’s rights to use her land. Secretary Thapa said eight more grievances relating to land disputes had come to the party. “We will seize and hand over the land to the rightful owners,” Thapa added. Meanwhile, Sumitra said she came to know that her land was sold off just a few days ago. She said Buddha Bahadur had asked her to put her fingerprints on a blank paper. Buddha Bahadur, however, claimed that the district court had issued a verdict giving him the land’s ownership eight years ago. “I sold the land for six lakh rupees. The allegation leveled against me is groundless,” Buddha said.
