Pokhara, November 20 It’s been three days that sixty-five-year-old Krishna Kumari Gurung of Pokhara, Ratnachowk is waiting for a half-filled cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas at the Naya Bazaar-based Pokhara Exhibition Hall. Although she has yet to receive cooking gas, she has already fallen sick due to the long wait on the cold floor of the centre. “Instead of getting gas, I’ve fallen sick. But there are still no signs if the LPG would be distributed anytime soon,” she said, adding, “There are rumours that cooking gas will be distributed, but the dealer hasn’t disclosed when.” About two weeks ago, 5,000 half-filled LPG cylinders were distributed from the exhibition centre. Samjhana CK of Sirjanachowk of Pokhara too is queuing for LPG at the centre for the past three days. “We’re two in the family. So, we are taking turns every other day to queue for the cooking gas,” she said, adding, “We can’t afford to leave the cylinders here for fear that they would be stolen.” Like, Samjhana and Krishna Kumari, hundreds of other customers from far-away places have been queuing for LPG at the centre. On his part, Kaski Chairperson of LPG Traders’ Federation Narayan Poudel has urged customers to line up only at places designated by the traders. LPG distributed in Makwanpur HETAUDA: After 48 hours of long wait, costumers in Makawanpur received half-filled cooking gas cylinders on Thursday. Though it was told that cooking gas would be distributed a few days ago, this could not happen as gas traders, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the local administration were at odds over the distribution site. Yesterday, despite an earlier preparation by LPG dealers to distribute the commodity from a single site, the local administration had directed distribution of cooking gas from all depots. A total of 2900 LPG cylinders were distributed on Thursday. —HNS
