Maoist delegation returns from China

KATHMANDU: A 20-member delegation of the Unified CPN-Maoist, led by former Health Minister Shashi Shrestha, returned from China today. During the 10-day visit to the northern neighbour, the team held meetings with high-level leaders of the Communist Party of China including Liu Zhenmin, Vice- Minister of Foreign Affairs and other provincial leaders in Beijing. Minister Zhenmin claimed the people of China were always there at the hard times faced by its neighbour, according to the UCPN-Maoist's press release. He even expressed his pleasure on the promulgation of new Constitution in Nepal. He was hopeful that the historic document would pave the way for opportunities in the relationship between the two nations, read the statement. He said the political leaders of Nepal are capable of resolving their problems on their own. On the occasion, Shrestha had apprised the Chinese leader of latest political developments in Nepal and praised the Chinese government for its selfless, humanitarian and cooperative support to the Nepali people during the hard times.
