Seven die, dozens injured in separate road accidents

Pokhara, November 27 At least seven persons died and 60 others injured in separate road accidents at various places across the country today. Four persons died and 23 others sustained injuries when a jeep met with an accident at Bokhar of Jhadewa 2 in Palpa at around 10:00 am today. The jeep veered off 500 metre down the road, according the police. The deceased have been identified as Tek Bahadur Luichemar, 71, of Gothadi, Khadga Chauhan, 24, of Rahabas-6, Rambha Devi Gaha, 60, of Jhadewa-5 and Bhumisara Baral, 75, of Rahabas-5 of the district. Baral breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Lumbini Medical College in Palpa. The injured have been receiving treatment at the same hospital. Of them, the condition of three is said to be critical. Police said the vehicle might have met with the accident after losing control. Similarly, three persons died and 23 others injured when a commuter bus skidded off the road at Bhardaha of Saptari along the East-west Highway today morning. Two of the deceased have yet to be identified whereas another has been identified as Nirjala Basnet, 9, of Tulasipur-7, Dhanusha. Of the duo, one died on the spot whereas another died in course of treatment at Golden Hospital Biratnagar. Two of the bodies have been taken to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and one body has been kept at Golden Hospital for post-mortem. All the injured have been receiving treatment at various health facilities in Dharan and Biratnagar. Meanwhile, as many as 14 persons sustained injuries when a commuter bus met with an accident at Kimbot of Kihu VDC in Baglung today. The bus en route to Burtibang from the capital veered off 100 metre down the road at around 6:00 am. Of the injured, condition of three is said to be critical.
