Kathmandu:
With the winding up of the fourth round of Samsung Nepali Tara, the door of opportunities for the top 10 finalists have been opened wide. They have been approached to sing in a new album composed by Alok Shree titled Samsung Nepali Tara Top Ten. Marketed by Sur Tal Music Centre, it will be available in the market by the coming week. The top 10 have also received debit card worth Rs 100,000 (10,000 per person) from the Nepal Investment Bank, and have also been offered career development programmes by various institutes. The contenders are excited about the upcoming events planned by the event organiser Nil Barahi Films, which plans to hold live concerts in the Valley. With pearly whites, thanks to Dr Sushil Koirala, and costumes by IEC Fashion Designing School, it is no surprise taras are raring to go.
“We are probably the luckiest singers as we have received so much media attention. We have gained a lot of confidence too,” said Ramesh Pokhrel, one of the top 10 finalists. Indira Joshi said, “It is like a dream.” A fan took Indira to her home to meet the family of fans. The other taras said people approached them to wish them luck. The journey has not been easy. They have been chosen out of almost 9,000 contestants from across the country. The journey ahead is tougher still. Being good will not do. They will have to be the best to the first Nepali Tara. They will compete in a number of rounds — genre, national song, film song, popular song, remixed and re-recorded song. One contestant will be eliminated each week on votes garnered by each and marks awarded them by the judges.
