Nepalgunj border entry point blocked

Nepalgunj, December 1 Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front disrupted Nepalgunj’s Jamunaha entry point on Nepal-India border today. According to Sub-inspector Bishnu Giri, Jamunaha Area Police Office chief, the disruption occurred after the front’s cadres held a sit-in at the site. With the obstruction, vehicular movement has come to a complete standstill, while hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying petroleum products, have been stranded on the Indian side of the border. Earlier, a clash had taken place between the police and the front cadres at the entry point after the former had tried to remove the latter from the sit-in site. While there are reports of stones being hurled from the Dasgaja area at cops, a policeman was injured by a petrol bomb hurled by the agitators during the clash. Meanwhile, as many as 91 vehicles, including nine carrying petroleum products, entered Nepal through Jhapa’s Kakarbhitta today. According to the Mechi Customs, Kakarbhitta officer Nirman Bhattarai, seven petrol tankers, one kerosene tanker and a tanker of aviation turbine fuel entered Nepal today. Five diesel and seven petrol tankers entered Nepal through Jogbani entry point of Biratnagar today. Three vehicles carrying medicines are also learnt to have entered through the entry point.
