19 miners trapped

BEIJING: An explosion in a northern Chinese coal mine has left 19 miners trapped and their fate uncertain, state press said on Tuesday. The explosion ripped through the mine in Tongchuan city, Shaanxi province on Tuesday afternoon when 22 miners were in the pit, Xinhua reported. — AFP

DHAKA: A Bangladeshi actress, Prema, suffered burns when attackers threw acid at her as she left a shopping centre in the capital Dhaka, police said on Tuesday. The actress filed a plaint with the police alleging her former husband and father-in-law were behind the attack. — AFP
