KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is preparing to import medicines through the fast track in the wake of the Tarai agitation and unofficial blockade imposed by India on Nepal that resulted in acute shortage of goods and medicines. MoHP Spokesperson Mahendra Bahadur Shrestha said that a meeting of the directors and administrators of various health organisations and office bearers of the MoHP held today took the decision to this effect. 'We are holding consultations with directors of all big government health organisations on the matter. We have decided to import the medicines through the fast track, following the complaints from some hospitals that the stock of medicines they have at present lasts only for some more days,' he said. He informed that the ministry was preparing to import medicines from some organisations including World Health Organisation and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and countries including Thailand and Oman.
