PM vows to bring Kimathangka-Biratnagar road into operation within 2 years

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the Kimathangka-Biratnagar road would be brought into operation within two years. At an interaction organised by the Kimathangka-Biratnagar Transport and Development Concern Committee at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar today, Prime Minister Oli expressed his commitment before people's representatives and stakeholders of the area. He said, 'Be confident, a two-lane road will be constructed within two years,' expressing commitment that the government would pay attention in the expansion of the road section, which is shortest in distance linking China and India. PM Oli, on the occasion, also shared that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and Minister for Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, are going to inspect the road project on Monday. He further said that the government has put the East-West Highway, the Mid-Hill Highway and the East-West Railway in priority. Stating that works related to Galchhi-Syaphrubesi corridor were underway, the Prime Minister said that the road linking India and China would be brought into operation by carrying out repair and maintenance of the road. PM Oli shared the information that border points in Mustang and Mugu would also be brought into operation soon. He stressed that people from all castes as well as religions should be united to protect the motherland. Deputy Prime Minister CP Mainali, Development Committee Chairperson Rabindra Adhikari of the Parliament, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana and National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Yuvaraj Khatiwada had also spoken at the function.
