Red-Cross to distribute Rs 10,000 to quake victims

Kavre, December 8 Nepal Red-Cross Society, Kavre has decided to distribute Rs 10,000 to each victim affected by the April 25 earthquake in the three VDCs of the district. Kavre Red-Cross came up with the decision to distribute the amount so that the victims could buy warm clothes for the winter season. As many as 2,560 victim families of Kharelthok, Dolalghat and Jyamdi VDCs will be provided with the amount. President Raghbar Cahu Pradhan of Kavre Red Cross said they were all set to distribute Rs 25.60 million among 2,560 victim families. He said the amount would be distributed tomorrow and on Thursday. Meanwhile, the government has yet to distribute Rs 10,000 relief amount to each of the victim families at the VDCs. Earlier, Kavre Red Cross had distributed Rs 15,000 each to 3,753 households for the construction of temporary houses after the devastating earthquake at Mechhe, Mangaltar, Chapakhori and Pokhari Narayansthan VDCs of the district. Similarly, the Red-Cross had also distributed tents, food materials and blankets, among other items, to the quake victims of 16 VDCs of the district in the first phase. It is said that rice, pulses and cooking oil, among other food items, were also distributed under the food distribution programme to victims in the second phase.
