LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND: The International Olympic Committee is urging 'immediate action' by all sports organizations to uphold rules of good governance in a bid to restore credibility amid a series of corruption and doping scandals. The IOC says it will start independent auditing of the money it gives to international federations, national Olympic bodies and games' organizing committees. The IOC executive board on Thursday adopted a 'declaration on good governance in sport and the protection of clean athletes.' The IOC said many sports bodies 'are concerned their reputation is being tarnished by generalization' because of the scandals that have embroiled FIFA and the IAAF.
