Police destroy marijuana plantation

Hetauda, December 12 A police team destroyed marijuana plants cultivated in around 125 bigha land in Namatar VDC of Makawanpur a few days ago. A 10-member police team led by SP Dhiraj Pratap Singh deployed from Illegal Drugs Control Bureau, Kathmandu, a 10-member police team deployed from DPO, Makawanpur led by inspector Damber Bahadur Puri, and 30 personnel from Armed Police Force destroyed the marijuana plants. The joint police team had destroyed the illegal marijuana plantation in ward no 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the VDC in its first phase. The police team returned after accomplishing the task on Friday. The security personnel had reached the site on December 3. Police said that the team would destroy marijuana plantation in other VDCs as well. It is also said that the locals had attacked the police team with the stones when the team was climbing the hills at Bhawang of the VDC on December 7. Police had opened 17 rounds of fire in the air to take the situation under control.
