KATHMANDU: The selection of boxing players for the 12th South Asian Games started here in Kathmandu on Saturday. On the first day, Bikram Pariyar of APF and Hari Bahadur Sunar from Rolpa registered victories in men’s 52kg, while Yuvraj Karki from Naxal and Bhupendra Thapa of Nepal Police Club also claimed wins in 60kg. In women’s 48-51kg, Lalita Gurung and Minu Gurung of Tribhuvan Army Club and Mala Rai of APF were victorious, while Shilu Dangol and Anuradha Lama of NPC registered wins in 69-75kg. A total of 51 men and 17 women are competing in seven different weight categories in the four-day selection tournament.
