Pokhara, December 14 Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav today said the United Democratic Madhesi Front would withdraw its agitation immediately if the government implemented an 11-point agreement reached with Madhesi parties. Addressing a mass meet organised by the Tamuwan-Magrat Joint Struggle Committee in Pokhara, Yadav said reluctance on the part of the government to settle the Madhesis’ problems had prolonged the Tarai agitation. “If the government gets serious and shows readiness to meet our demands, we will halt all of our programmes immediately,” Yadav added. He reiterated that UDMF was ready to hold talks with the government any time. Stating that UDMF was prepared to settle the crisis through negotiation and dialogue, Yadav blamed government for causing untold misery to the people. “Lack of sincerity on the part of the government has caused people to suffer,” Yadav added. “We want to solve our problems ourselves. But the government representatives rush to New Delhi to seek suggestion on settling domestic issues,” Yadav said. Yadav said newly-promulgated constitution was not acceptable to them, as it was against the ethnic communities, women, Madhesis and disadvantaged people. At the programme, indigenous nationalities’ leader Prof Om Gurung said time had come for ethnic communities from every village to hit the streets.
