Nepali Army gets bomb disposal robot

Kathmandu, December 22 The Nepali Army received an upgraded bomb disposal robot amid an event organised at the NA Headquarters, Kathmandu, today. Ganesh Bikram Singh, team leader of manufacturer GBS Team, handed over the robot monitor key of the bomb disposal robot to Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri. Earlier, NA had concluded an agreement with GBS Team on September 14 for the procurement of the military version bomb disposal robot. The robot had stood first in the Military Science and Technology Competition organised by Prototype Development Team of the NA on April 9, 2014. A press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations of NA said that CoAS Chetri handed over a cheque to Singh. CoAS also inspected live IED disposal demonstration of the robot. GBS Team also briefed him about the functions and features of the robot. It is expected to assist the Nepali Army in disposing IED and other explosives planted on ground, bushes, roadside and basement of a house easily and safely, read the statement.
