Kathmandu, December 22 The government has said India’s welcome statement on Nepal’s decision to address the key demands of agitating Madhesi parties through constitution amendment is ‘positive’ and ‘encouraging’. “The Government of Nepal has taken the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Nepal on December 21, 2015 as positive and encouraging,” read a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “These positive gestures from a friendly neighbour will be helpful in normalising the existing situation as well as restoring normalcy of the supply system across the Nepal-India border,” the statement further read. The government, on Sunday, had decided to move ahead with the Constitution Amendment Bill to address the inclusion and electoral constituency delimitation demands of Madhesi forces, which was welcomed by MEA through a public statement. Meanwhile, Deputy PM and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa said that India’s positive gesture would help resolve the crisis facing Nepal and hoped the border-disruption would be eased shortly.
