Kathmandu, December 23 Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today unveiled a life-size statue of late Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and remembered him as a leader who dedicated his life for the country. Unveiling the statue at Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Ashram in Bandegaun of Lalitpur, PM Oli said Bhattarai should be recognised as a national leader and not as a leader of a certain political party. “Bhattarai is the leader of today’s transformation as he always remained at the forefront of change. I always recognised him as a leader who spoke the truth without caring about the consequences,” Oli said. Bhattarai preferred to go to jail rather than speak a lie and he had a good sense of humor, Oli said. “He always remained happy and never expressed regret even when he suffered while he was in jail. I also have the same habit,” he said. Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba remembered Bhattarai as a successful leader under whose guidance the constitution of 1990 was delivered within six months. Chairman of Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Ashram Academy PL Singh suggested to the leaders to follow Bhattarai’s path to bring about positive change in the country.
