Relief distribution for warm clothes begins in Kavre

By Himalayan News Service

Kavre, December 25 Authorities in Kavre have started distributing cash relief for winter clothes to earthquake victims in the district. Relief distribution for winter clothes started from Dhunkharka VDC yesterday as per the policy of providing cash relief only to quake-victims of VDCs that have already furnished the report of earlier relief distribution. Sources of the district natural disaster rescue committee informed that 200 families were provided Rs 10,000 each in the last two days. “As Dhunkharka VDC has submitted the report of earlier relief distribution, we started relief distribution from the VDC,” said Chief District Officer Madan Bhujel. He also said that fresh cash relief would be distributed only in VDCs that have already submitted the report of earlier relief distribution. The government had released Rs 500 million for relief distribution to 83,428 quake victims in the district a month ago. The district administration, however, said fresh cash relief would be distributed only after the concerned VDCs submit report of earlier relief distribution. Of the total 76 VDCs in the district, only 27 VDCs have furnished the report of earlier relief distribution. Some 2,560 quake victims of Kharelthok, Dolakghat and Jyamdi VDCs, however, won’t get the relief for winter clothes as they have already received the amount last week from Nepal Red Cross Society.
