Janakpur tense as local traders protest UDMF agitation

JANAKPURDHAM: Tension ran high in Janakpur city of Dhanusha district on Thursday afternoon after a group of local traders protested the ongoing agitation called by the United Democratic Madhesi Front. The two sides engaged themselves in continuous clashes after the traders torched two motorbikes of local UDMF leaders. According to the UDMF leaders, bikes of Sadbhawana Party district chairman Sanjaya Singh (Ja 2 Pa 5419) and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party district chairman Rup Narayan Mandal (Ja 3 Pa 2991) were torched by the protesters at local Janak Chok today. The traders were irate with the protesting alliance as the latter forced them to shut down the business for a long time. Meanwhile, a group of UDMF cadres on Thursday morning torched a truck along the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section of the district today. The vehicle (Na 2 Kha 6977) was completely destroyed in the attack near the Everest Wire Factory, the Dhalkebar Area Police Post said.
