UN peacekeeper from Nepal dies in Lebanon

KATHMANDU: A Nepali peacekeeper died in Lebanon last week, the Nepal Army said on Thursday. NA Lance Corporal Bharat Raj Karki was working in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNFIL). The NA Directorate of Public Relations said Karki had breathed his last on January 1 and his body was brought to Kathmandu on a Qatar Airlines flight on Wednesday. The national military force paid last tributes to the deceased staffer amid a function at the Birendra Hospital in Chhauni today. According to the NA statement issued today, as many as 62 personnel have got 'martyrdom' during the UN peacekeeping assignments so far.
