Chaku (pronounced as chaa-ku) is traditional candy prepared from molasses. This delicacy is generally prepared and consumed in the Kathmandu Valley on the Makar Sankranti, the first day of holy month of Magh as per the Nepali calendar. Skanda Gautam catches the moments of Chaku preparation in Lalitpur with his lens as the Makar Sankranti, popularly called Maghe Sankranti, approaches. The festival befalls on January 15 this year.
