Sabina Pokhrel netted 21 points as Gyanodaya Bal Batika thrashed hosts Campion School 58-20 and entered the girls’ final of the Campion Inter-school Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Campion Associates to mark its 10th anniversary. In the other semis, Rato Bangala School overpowered LRI School 56-22 with Neha Chaudhary scoring 22 points.

In boys’ semis, Sambotta School defeated Wilson Academy 50-37 riding on Tenzing Lunthok’s 17 points, while Prayag Gurung netted 19 points in RIBS’s 64-43 victory over Brihaspati Vidya Sadan. Pema C Sherpa opened the account for LRI while Neha did so for Rato Bangala. The first quarter ended with Rato Bangala taking a four-point lead. Rato Bangala started pulling the score up with three free shots from Nidhi Thapa and Kashu Dhakwa and made it 12-8.

Imati Thakali had two and Pem Sherpa scored one to add three more points to LRI’s eight in the second quarter. But Rato Bangala scored 22 points, leading the match with 23 points after the 16 minutes.

Rato Bagala moved on comfortably from the third quarter, adding four points through Kashu. LRI could muster only two points, which left the scores at 38-13. Rato Bangala added another 18 points in the last quarter and restricted LRI to just nine points, to secure a huge victory and a place in the final. Pema had 16 points for LRI including a 3-pointer. In the other match, Gyanodaya girls dominated the field throughout to thrash Campion. Gyanodaya took a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and added 16 to Campion’s eight points in the second quarter. Gyanodaya dominated in the third quarter scoring 12 points and restricting the hosts to four, while the last quarter saw Gyanodaya scoring 10 and Campion netting eight.
