BIRGUNJ: The mentally retarded students living in cold wave-hit Mahuan and Bhikhampur VDCs have received warm blankets. The cold-affected children were provided with the philanthropic support by Kamalaeswor Amatya in memory of her husband and social worker Dolendra Bahadur Amatya. Amatya on Wednesday handed over the blankets to the needy children reaching the affected villages on the initiative of Free Human Rights Society, Central Office, Birgunj. The support was provided to 21 mentally retarded students living in the villages for studies. The Society has expected the government's support to shield the biting cold; but there is no presence of the government, said Society Chairperson Krishna Kumar Khanal. 'We are effortful to provide the innocent and helpless children with warm clothes and educational materials as per their need', Khanal shared. The Society also distributed blankets to 45 senior citizens belonging to hardcore poor and disadvantaged community in Sripur Panchagawa VDC.
