Emergency fund to support pregnant women

MYAGDI:  An emergency fund has been set up to provide support to expectant and new moths in various villages of Myagdi district. The emergency fund has been instituted under the aegis of mother groups operating in Beni Municipality-3, Gauswar, Bagarphant, Shikh, Bhakimli and Kuhu, among other areas, of Myagdi district. The fund was established to prevent possible accidents that may occur in the stage of pregnancy and maternity due to the economic crisis. Each member of mothers group collects Rs 50 per month for the fund. 'The pregnant and lactating mothers are invited in a monthly gathering and matters concerning their health status, safer motherhood and child-maternal care are discussed in a routine manner', said Chairperson of Gose Baraha Mother Group, Naumaya Magar. The fund amounting to Rs 60,000 has been so far raised through donation, cultural programmes and members' monthly contribution, Chairperson Magar informed. As many as 32 target women have been benefitted from the fund so far.
