Kathmandu, August 3:
Roma Neupane’s passion and love for dance rejuvenated her life. The 22-year-old lost her left leg when a jeep ran over her at the early age of eight. Despite her disability, she continued her studies, dancing and came to the capital for fresh avenues. Now she is happy as the Israel embassy in Nepal has offered her free treatment in Israel.
Roma depends on crutches, but she did not abandon her passion for dancing. She has performed at various cultural programmes. Her performance at a cultural programme at Tundhikhel on the eve of Nepali New Year marked the turning point in her life.
Actress Jal Shah noticed her. “Roma, who was dancing on one leg, caught my attention; she was brilliant,” said Shah who introduced Roma at the press meet organised by the Embassy of Israel today. Shah said: “I introduced her to Ambassador Dan Ben-Eliezer, with an intention to help her get a new life.”
Ambassador of Israel, Dan Ben-Eliezer said: “I told Roma’s story to Prof Eli Isakov, orthopedic expert from Loewenstein Hospital in Israel.
Prof Isakov took the case to Israel and in coordination with Israel-Nepal Friendship Association, he has succeeded in finding a way for her in Israel to have treatment.”
Roma and her husband are scheduled to fly to Israel next month. Good luck, Roma.
