BIRGUNJ: The protesting United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) decided to bar three major parties from holding any function in Bara and Parsa districts of mid-Tarai. A UDMF meeting on Saturday decided to block Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist from conducting their activities, claiming they were responsible for suppression of Madhes protests in last five months. 'As Congress, UML and UCPN-Maoist have been presenting themselves in support of the government's suppression on the people's movement in the Madhes region carried out to incorporate democratic rights in the Constitution,' Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Parsa district chairman Pradeep Yadav said, 'We decided to obstruct their programmes.' A press statement issued after the meeting claimed that the government was trying to foil the agitation waged for rights of people with the use of force. Meanwhile, the protesting Front demanded that its cadres be released at the earliest. The Front has warned of a general shutdown if its demands were not met. The UDMF cadres have been staging sporadic protests in Birgunj and surrounding areas on Saturday also.
