'Govt to form Local Bodies Restructuring Commission'

BANEPA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Kamal Thapa, said that Local Bodies Restructuring Commission would be formed on third week of February. At a bi-annual progress review seminar organised by the Federal Affairs and Local Development at Dhulikhel today, DPM Thapa said that the Commission would submit a report regarding restructuring the local bodies within a year. He further said that there is a provision of forming such commission within six months after the promulgation of the new constitution. Stating that the report prepared by the Commission for the restructuring of the local bodies would make the local bodies strong, DPM Thapa said that that the new constitution has a provision of addressing the different opinions. Similarly, Assistant Minister for Local Development, Birat Bahadur Bista, also talked about the restructuring of the local bodies. Local Development Officer, Executive Officers of the Municipalities of 19 districts of central development region participated in the seminar.
