Nepali Congress leader Acharya faints, taken to hospital

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee member Narhari Acharya was rushed to the Sahid Ganga Lal National Heart Center for treatment on Tuesday after he fainted following the demise of former Prime Minister and party President Sushil Koirala. It has been learned that Acharya, who had reached Maharajgunj to pay his last respect to Koirala, collapsed there. He was initially taken to the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre for treatment and then referred to the Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital. Acharya is receiving treatment at the emergency unit of the hospital. NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel and party’s other leaders have reached the hospital to take stock of Acharya’s health condition. Acharya was a senior minister in the Koirala-led government.
