Fake driving licence racketeers held

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested three fake driving licence racketeers from Kathmandu on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, nabbed Ram Lama (29) from Gajuri-9 of Dhading, Shree Krishna Dangol (27) from Jorpati of Kathmandu and Yangba Sherpa (39) from Tingla-9 of Solukhumbu district. Police had first detained Lama from Gongabu of Kathmandu, who later introduced other members of the racket, police said. They also seized eight fake driving licences, two mobile phone sets and Lama's driving licence from the suspect's room, according to police. Subsequently, Dangol and Sherpa were detailed from Ekantakuna of Lalitpur on the same day. Police also recovered a huge cache of fake driving licences and some equipment including laptop and printer form the duo. Further investigation is underway.
