Teen comes up with home-made solar powered scooter

KATHMANDU: A 17-year-old Bikalpa Dhungana of Damauli, the Tanahun district headquarters, has developed a solar-enabled scooter. Built following an effort of two years, the solar-powered scooter was made public at a press conference organised here on Monday. The inventor shared that the scooter was named ‘Bishnu Solar Scooter’ after his mother. Dhungana said that he was willing to do something new in science and technology field, however, the state has remained apathetic to ensuring enabling environment for the same. On the occasion, Minister for Science and Technology, Shiva Lal Thapa started the solar-powered scooter. He said such innovations in science and technology would help overcome the blockade that we have recently passed through. He also pledged to create environment conducive for thousands of creative and dynamic youths like Dhungana. The solar-enabled two-wheeler covers a distance of 60 kilometres at time under a fully charged condition.
