11 injured in Taplejung bus accident

PHIDIM: At least 11 persons were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Aambegudin-3 of Taplejung district on Thursday morning. According to the District Police Office, Taplejung, the incident occurred when the bus (Me 1 Kha 1799) heading towards Birtamod from Happu Khola of Jhapa district fell off some 20 meters down from the road. Police informed that there were 30 persons on board the ill-fated bus. Among the injured, the condition of four persons is critical, informed police. Two ambulances from Panchthar and Taplejung districts were sent to rescue the passengers immediately after the incident, police said. Critically injured persons are being rushed to the District Hospital, Taplejung for treatment, police informed. Police suspect that the incident might have occurred due to narrow and muddy road.
