RAUTAHAT: Police on Thursday confiscated illegal clothes worth around Rs 1.8 million from Shivanagar of Rautahat. Acting on a tip-off that a bolero jeep (BR 05 G 7311) laden with clothes was heading towards Garuda from India by evading tax, a police team under the command of Inspector Santu Lal Jayeswor stepped up vigil and managed to impound the vehicle at around 9 pm yesterday. According to a preliminary investigation, the seized clothes belong to Motim Miya of Kopawa Pipariya and Sanjay Yadav of Gaur. Police said that a driver and other persons who were travelling in the vehicle immediately fled the scene after they saw the security personnel. Inspector Jayeswor informed that the confiscated goods along with the jeep have been handed over to the Central Regional Office of Department of Revenue Investigation, Pathlaiya, for further investigation. Police said that they started a manhunt to nab Miya and Yadav.
