Kathmandu, August 14:
Kathmandu Don Bosco College organised an interaction on ‘why management studies in Nepal’ here today. Dr Kundan Datta Koirala, professor at Tribhuvan University, on the occasion, said the BBA programme has become popular among new generation of management students. “Management studies is a blended course and credit transfer facility in BBA programme has lured many students,” he added. Arun Kumar Chaudhary, managing director of Chaudhary Group, Narendra Bhattarai, managing director of NCC Bank Ltd and Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, managing director of Panchakanya Group shared their views on the prospect of management studies in Nepal, on the occasion. They underscored the need that management studies must be able to produce an individual who cannot only work in Nepal but also compete in the global markets.
Chaudhary said “globalisation is taking place in such a rapid pace that every one should be competitive enough to grasp the opportunities. Only those who can perform better can survive
in the market.” Bhattarai stressed on the need of balancing theoretical and practical aspects of the management studies in order to be more competitive. “Nepal is rich in natural resources but we have a misconception that we are poor, which is mainly due to lack of utilisation of manpower and exploitation of available resources,” Shrestha said. Dr Taranath Sharma, principal of the college and executive director Kapildev Regmi also expressed their views on the occasion.
