‘Kisan’ call centre comes into operation

Kathmandu, February 28 Gone are the days when farmers, especially in remote areas, had to move from pillar to post to resolve problems in their farms due to lack of experts. A ‘Kisan Call Centre’ has been brought into operation from today through which farmers will be provided the necessary skills and tools to resolve problems relating to agriculture. Introduced by Ministry of Agricultural Development, retired agriculture technicians and also experts from universities will be available on phone to provide farmers with needed information. The new technology came into operation from today after Rajesh Rimal Chhetri, a farmer from Parbat, asked Minister for Agricultural Development Haribol Gajurel a question on agriculture. The service has been set up at the Agriculture Information and Communications Centre. Director General at Agriculture Department Yubakdhoj JC said that the service will be in operation on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 4pm. Farmers from anywhere across the country can call at toll-free number 16600195000 and ask experts about their problems related to agriculture.
